Double J & D Acres has gone through some major changes this past year. We have retired from breeding and raising Curly ponies so that we can invest our time in other areas....therefore we are offering a few of our incredible ponies for sale so visit our sales page or contact us for more information jenn@doublejanddacres.com
We are so excited to dive right into the world of fibre...There are so many wonderful fibres to work with and we have had the opportunity dabble in many fibre types that are readily available; and some not so common like the rare Curly horse fibre. There are many types of coats a Curly horse can produce; check out the coats we have at our farm. View our video on Curly fibres. In addition to working with Curly horse fibre we spend a lot of time working with sheep wool such as Merino and BFL. Here are just a few of the rovings we have dyed. We also love to dye locks of various sheep and lustrous Angora goat locks. We make blended batts out of all kinds of fibre and we also spin very unique yarn. Check out our Fibre Studio and our Fibre Sales page for more information on our Fabulous Fibres!

The advantage of down sizing ponies is that we could introduce a few new animals to our farm.....Meet our Angora Goats!!! Elizabeth and Louise became part of our herd in June 2011. These two little bottle fed does have brought so much love and laughter to our farm this summer. These two girls were part of a petting zoo this summer during our day camp and were a huge hit with all the children. They also had their first showing at our local fall fair where Louise won best Junior doe of the show and Taylor our youngest daughter won best goat handler with Elizabeth...It was a wonderful day. Here is the goats photo page. Elizabeth and Louise had their first sheering this fall and we have started to spin up their fibre and we are even making little fibre goats now! We look forward to adding coloured Angora goats to our herd in the spring of 2012! |
Silky X chicks
We picked up a few silky chicks for our farm this summer. They sure are cute...we can't wait until they start to lay eggs...hopefully they aren't all roosters! Here are some pictures! |
